Let's Get Down To Business - Page 2 Empty Let's Get Down To Business

First topic message reminder :

The journey to the resident of Sophonax and her large congregation of female Djinn had been an interesting one. He wasn't certain on why he had felt the need to make this trek. It was a danger to be certain. This land....it had ties to another Empire not affiliated with his own. It was claimed by another, even if the owner of these lands refused to accept that simple fact. But it was evident. The Djinn known as Khooey was claimed by a Prince of Celesin. Claimed as a mate and possibly more. How the Dra'sin Emperor and his King Empress (no pun intended) viewed this possible match was open to interpretation and likely anyone's guess. The girl Khooey offered no land or titles beside possible ownership over the land that he currently found himself walking through. The girl also had power of some sort. She had been worthy enough to work for the one known as Fenris of Olfwood. And now she had climbed the ladder of success in the Celesin Empire.

He paused in his steps as he turned his head to gaze down at the rough patch of land he was on. Snow covered most of the land. A blizzard unlike any other. It was surreal. Anyone else, anyone human, would have surely needed more coating. He found himself staring at the cold element that surrounded him. If he truly wanted to, he could have gone along faster to get to his destination. This would be traveler was clothed for the occasion. Perhaps a tad under dressed even. The suit he wore was a dark grey, a white collared shirt underneath, and a blood red tie taking its place over the shirt. Over that, he wore a grey coat that seemed to cover his person. With that, matching pants and gloves that were to accommodate the weather. And on top of the young man's head? A hat. It was not so obscene or cliche as a fedora but it was of a classical nature. Something a business man would certainly wear.

He kept moving onward through that forest for miles on end. He had decided to avoid arriving in a space shuttle for his own reasons. He had traveled too much by shuttle and, instead, had opted for a drop off and a nice walk through the forest. It gave the young man time to clear his own head and come up with a perfectly logical reason for actually being here. A business proposition had been the initial reason. But......he had become interested in why the Celesin Empire was so interested in this ranch and the girls who lived there. And so here he was. Walking through snow and dirt in some odd attempt to assess a possible threat.

So he trekked on. Continued to walk as though there was no care in the world. As though he didn't have the fate of an entire Empire on his shoulders. The young man kept his head held high and his eyes alert. His own feelings going out in case he needed to be aware of a threat that might come his way. And considering who he was going to visit, that might just be the case.

Passing the five mile marker, Prince Lucian Shuinsai would continue on his way to what was going to likely be an interesting conversation between him and the local residents. And whatever guests that they might have holed up in that ranch.

Sophonax raised her glass to him and gave a wide, dazzling smile. Paperwork and then they were good to go. All of it was more than fine by her! A continuous meat order this big was nothing short of a boon for Redpointe in the end. She could finally find a justification to extend the cattle operations and put a few more buildings on the land. Not to mention a cold facility to cut the meat up and package it. Likely, she’d have to take on a few more employees to get the weight off of Rose and Whinnie-sloane’s back. Perhaps that nice young girl Terpsichore could be convinced to stick around as well?

Lucian’s reaction to the child wrung another soft chuckle out of the Matron. He seemed captivated with her granddaughter if just for a moment. Whether it was an adoration for toddlers or simple confusion she didnt know and couldnt tell, but it was amusing nonetheless. And his gaze obviously incensed Odine to perform for him even harder— her little brown arm waving furiously at him with a huge baby-grin on her face. She’d gotten rather shrill in her excited vocalizing until Sophonax could see a pair of hands gently seize the toddler by her pudgy trunk and lift her away from the window. They’d clearly been Rose’s hands and in response the child let off a single shriek to let everyone know she still ran this house.

“She’s a damned rambunction one. Tha’s f’ sure.” Said the Matron; unbothered by the screams as she’d gotten used to them and many, many more. Redpointe was still a home for young orphans and if the blizzard hadn’t passed white out status nearly an hour ago they’d have been able to see the dormitories where the wards lived only one hundred yards from the main house.

The lemonade was finished off and Sophonax took to her feet once Lucian began to ask about his sleeping arrangements. The glass and pitcher were gathered and, if he were finished; he was obviously free to pass his own tumbler to her.

“Well, I try t’ treat my guests right ‘n every instance. So we got f’ you a couple a’ guest rooms in th’ house. Y’ wanna follow me back on in, I’ll show y’ to one.”
She’d lead him back to the front door and, unless he chose to assist her— she’d have to use a foot to open the screen door and a hip bump for the thankfully unlocked front door. They’d likely walk in on Sune’ere and Rose schmoozing on the couch with Odine in tow.

“Got one upstairs, main floor...y’ don’t want th’ one wit’ two beds? Double suite...but ain’ nobody else in it if that’s y’ preference. Gimme a moment.” Sophonax would have to leave him in the lounge to put the pitcher and glasses on a countertop. Faucets were engaged to rinse them and rosemary sprigs were tossed in the trash. When she returned; she bade him to follow her down the hall toward the available bedrooms. The house was so nice it could have easily doubled as a higher tier bed and breakfast with serious down-home mountain flare, but, it was such a remote location. The rooms were nice, wood paneled, rustic and cozy. One even had a small sitting area with the bed on an elevated loft. ((And the player is too lazy to describe them further!))

“Missin’?” She’d ask’ tilting her head at him a second time. Seemed to be one of her tics— and it wasn’t unlike something a Spitz might do when interested in a sound. “So y’ sayin’ she lost an eye? Didn’t just have her face messed up? Holy guacamole…”

Rose really couldn’t believe it. Or, maybe it was just that she personally didnt have the cajones to try and mutilate one of his siblings unless she had a deathwish. Then again, Sune did say the one who’d did it was about to marry his father. Seems there was more to the equation and perhaps Daul’s hands had been tied; metaphorically speaking.

“Hot Iron!” She’d say. She did like that one. Made her sound every inch a total bad ass. “Yeah I’ve got your back. Jus’ don’t go at him hot, y’know what I mean? Keep it cool and to be fair y’ should probably pass me any heat you got. I can handle any need to draw, I promise. Keep the axe, though.” And as far as she could tell she had a good point— it wasnt a good look going out there to hold palaver with the rival prince with an itchy finger and to boot Sune had already unconsciously made it clear he’d have liked to harm Prince Vileur-Shiunsai just for staring at her a touch too long.

Odine was bounced on Rose’s thigh; the child squealing again as Sune’ere ruffled her curls. She seemed to have taken to him just as much as Rose did at this point and they were officially “His Girls” by now. The Sentinel had been just about to say something when the doors opened; making her briedly start while still half in Sune’ere’s lap.

The Matron had come back in the house with the Prince likely behind her. It got quiet almost immediately….well...save for Odine. She pointed at Lucian and gave him the same frantic wave as before; even managing to flick Rose in the eye. Her mother yelped, but had luckily blinked in time to avoid a scratched cornea.

“Pwan! Puwin! Pwin!” From the child to the Shuinsai. She could have been trying to say something, or, she was simply speaking “baby”.

Let's Get Down To Business - Page 2 Empty Re: Let's Get Down To Business

Post by Sune Thu Mar 24, 2016 11:20 pm

Sune'ere nodded when she questioned and tilted her head at him. It was a sore subject with his sister, something that rarely if ever had gotten brought up. After all, no one really liked to relive their shame. He was glad when the conversation switched gears from his sister right on over into him actually finding a decent name to call her. He liked it, and he was certainly glad that she did too. He nodded to her, when she gave her opinion on what to do. He would reach down to the shoulder holster for his gun and then think twice about handing it over to her while she had a baby in her hands. Not that he didn't trust Rose, but Odine did have a tendency to flail. It would be his luck to get shot in the head by a baby.

"If you gotta use it, safeties in the usual spot. There is pressure sensitive button in the grip that charges the capacitor. I've got force and ice bullets loaded up already, rotating in that order. If you shoot this thing off, do it with both hands. It kicks like a shotgun had a baby with an artillery cannon." He didn't doubt that the redpointe girls were strong, however he also didn't need her dislocating or breaking her arm if she tried to protect him. That would put her in a situation that the other could exploit, and Sune would protect her if it came down to a fight between himself and Lucian.

He enjoyed the peace with his girls, smiling at the bouncing Odine before Rose was startled while now only half on his lap. He looked over towards where Sophonax wandered in and looked towards the Dorian prince. He faked rather convincingly a smile for the young man. It seemed Sophonax would let both men stay under the same roof. A risky move for her. Wasn't it likely one might kill the other in their sleep? After all what better way to curry favor with his dad than starting an all out war that would see Celesin victorious over yet another empire. The thought was broken as Odine started hollering at Lucian and he looked to her a little startled. He let his smile soften, and turned back to the prince.

"When you're done setting up, I'd really like that chat. I don't believe our fathers problems have to move along to the next generation." He was playing it cool. Did he believe it? Not really. There was enough bad blood between all of them to fill an ocean. Sune however was taking Rose's advice of being cold. Rose may be unused to him being like this in all honesty. All the cues for emotion were there, but there was something blank to them. Faked expertly. The smile, the tone, to someone who wasn't trained to read people, or had some sort of supernatural empathetic ability they would probably believe in Sune's own show of emotion. He had given that same smile to so many people who walked through the agencies doors. So many failed initiates, so many people he had to get close to and done terrible things to in the name of the greater good as his uncle called it.

"The baby seems to like you, and I think she has been a pretty good judge of character so far, don't you think Rose?" He grinned and quickly kissed her cheek. Was it a sudden territory thing? Maybe to Lucian it would look like he was saying 'These are mine'. To Sune, he was just being weirdly honest. Plus he had many questions for the prince.

Let's Get Down To Business - Page 2 Empty Re: Let's Get Down To Business

Post by Lucian Fri Mar 25, 2016 2:19 am

The Prince had concluded that the paperwork and the technicalities would need to be handled. He knew that he had to prepare everything. Get the other vendors in line, get the construction crews ready, and most of all prepare his people to assimilate to a new life in that foreign land. They were suppose to build something grand. Something so good. He was suppose to handle all of it. This was a test and it was to show his worth to his father. To prove that Lucian was a worthy heir and was worthy to rule the Dorian Empire when the time came. Perhaps Korel would become his new capital city when that time came? It was food for thought.

Lucian, for the moment, was captivated by the sheer innocence of the child Odine. The way that the little one was furiously waving at him, who was no doubt a newcomer and someone that the girl wanted to interact with, was certainly attention-getting. He looked more than bemused as he awkwardly raised his hand to wave at the child. This granddaughter of Sopohonax was certainly a loud one. The shriek caught his ears and he had to cringe for just a second. The glass may have separated them but it was evident he had heard who the boss of the house clearly was.

"No kidding." He replied dryly but with a look of amusement on his face. Raising his glass, he would finish off whatever remained of his lemonade then with one big drink before setting the empty glass beside the pitcher. The Prince would rise up to his feet and make sure to follow after his gracious host. His eyes scanning the room the moment they stepped through the doorway as he sought to look and see if perhaps he was being watched. And there was nothing there. The Prince would make his way into the lounging area and, lo and behold, he spotted the lovely couple on the couch with the child in question. "A single bed will be fine." But the moment she said to give her a moment, Lucian realized his error in staying in the room alone.

The Prince watched the Matron leave the room and, awkwardly, he would turn to look at the lovely trio on the couch. It was picture perfect in fact. He had been ready to look away, perhaps avoid the awkwardness of it all, when the little infant decided that she wanted to call out to him. The baby babble was certainly a surprise and Lucian once more had that bemused expression on his face. Unlike earlier with the Sentinels, there was no sneer or sarcasm. No mocking tones or superiority. And, if one looked very carefully, they would notice the twitch in his upper lip. The beginning of what was most definitely a smile on his young face. "I believe she's trying to pronounce 'Prince'." He couldn't help but want to laugh. There was something about the innocence and the way she was entertained by him that made Lucian want to smile.

And just like that, the mood was shattered by the overprotective Dra'sin.

His eyes shifted from the infant to the man on the couch himself. Lucian's expression shifting to one of indifference then as he crossed one arm over the other. If Sune'ere expected him to believe that smile sincere then he was going to be sorely disappointed. "And yet somehow," His tone once more shifting back to something else. There was an edge to it again as though he were on the defensive. "I sincerely doubt that they'd allow us to not continue the feud in their names. Even if my cousin and your sister are......together." And he has to resist uttering the words "betrothed" or even "in a relationship" because the idea of a Dra'sin and Shuinsai being together was downright nauseating. Look at how well the last pairing went. Though in truth that was what Jophiel and Daul were meant to represent. Succeeding where the whore Alyishia and the rival Emperor Mesiphidon had failed.

"But even so, yes, we can have that chat if you want to. I won't deny that my own curiosity is peaked at what it is you want to discuss."

"Well she is an interesting child. With an interesting family." The kissing of the cheek. The sudden primal instinct to dominate the playing field and show that this was his and that no one would take it from him. Lucian only stared at the rival Prince with a blank expression. He had no interest in any of this. The infant was intriguing and the girl Rose would no doubt be part of the business arrangement between Korel and Redpointe. But even so, the man was being as basic as a human male might be with a female that they were procreating with.
Sophonax would return for him and the Prince would nod his head to the lovely little family on that couch as he moved to follow the Matron through that hallway. His eyes flickered to everything then as he was shown each room. The first was of course denied just because a double mattress was too much for the one Prince to handle. And the second one with the swing would be too.

"This one will do."

Instead, he would accept the offering of the final room. The one that had a sitting area in the very next room. The reason for this was not because of the scenery, but because Lucian had a feeling he would need that sitting area for his soon to be conversation with the Rival. The Prince would move towards that bed and dresser beside it. The hat was removed first and placed on the bedside. His head shook and he had to rub a hand through the curls of his hair to get whatever rain or snow out of it now that he was inside. He had been toasty because of the heater but that didn't mean he didn't still have some wetness to his clothes.

Let's Get Down To Business - Page 2 Empty Re: Let's Get Down To Business

After doing her rinsing, Sophonax let Lucian choose a room and then set about to getting him set up comfortably. More blankets for the bed and a small oil lantern on the nightstand was refilled in case he wanted light as once the clock struck midnight the generators were turned off and the house was plunged into pitch darkness until five am. Only the generators for the cooling appliances to store food were left operational.

The Matron didn’t seem to be bothered by the obvious tension on display every time she passed the sitting room; seeing her daughter on the couch with Odine and Sune’ere’s arm lobbed around Rose’s shoulders was fine with her. And she most certainly understood the silent claim being made and the message being sent to the visitor.

Such spirited young men, they were. Always puffing their chests out, as she saw it.

A low, noncommittal chuckle as she consulted a hall closet and put out fleece pants for Lucian to sleep in, a wool robe, a bar of soap scented with real cedarwood oil, a cellophane toothbrush and a small satchel of multicolored Jordan almonds. While doing so she could hear the visiting prince make a snipe, Odine’s babbling and Sune’ere putting on his best face. It didn’t need to be obvious or preternatural far as Sophonax could tell that he was putting on an act for the sake of peace— she’d already seen the way they’d engaged before.

But the boy got points for trying.

Now, the Matron entered the room again and made a beeline around the trio; not even turning her eyes toward them while consulting one of the double door coolers in the kitchen and pulling out a raw spatchcocked turkey.

“I ken y’ gonna be sittin’ down t’ eat with us, Lucian?’
She’d say; not giving a damn in the world if the conversation between the trio was becoming more or less tense.

Rose took the gun with a smile; testing its weight in her hand and knowing Sune likely wasn't exaggerating. "So it kicks like a mule, eh?" she'd say; nodding and keeping the barrel far away from both the man and the baby. "Most assuredly noted..."

Unlike Sophonax, it had been some time since Rose had spent a lot of time around men and their odd little masculine behaviors. Unless it was calamity or a need to escape, mostly she’d only been around Harken, Tre and Jaeger. Now, Sune’ere. So when he kissed her on the cheek (after rubbing her eye and grumbling about needing a pair of safety goggles when around Odine)  she didn’t pick up on it being a gesture of dominance and protectiveness— it was just affection and it earned her leaning over to whisper something in his ear that may or may not make him turn a bit red. Intentions for a good time, likely.

“Pwinz!”
From Odine, who had heard Lucian’s theory and chose to confirm it by having another outburst; waving her chubby little arms around and reaching for him. Rose looked confounded for a moment that her child seemed to really want attention from the somewhat creepy royal, but, speaking what appeared to be her 8th word or so overpowered that and made her expression light up.

“Well, Hell’s Bell’s….maybe she is sayin’ ‘Prince!’” Rose would say; lightly tickling her daughter for a moment. “You tryn’ta say ‘Prince’, baby girl? Say ‘Prince Lucian’! Say hi to ‘im!’ She’d say; now smiling wide enough to show teeth as Odine made a wreck out of the mans name and announced to the room that he was officially “Pwin Wuthan”.

Now, Lucian was agreeing to speak to Sune and she was easing off of the Dra’sin’s lap; giving him a reassuring smile and freeing him up so he could go and hold palaver with the Shuinsai.

Let's Get Down To Business - Page 2 Empty Re: Let's Get Down To Business

Post by Sune Sun Mar 27, 2016 11:20 pm

Sune'ere was torn between many things needing his attention. Between the talk of his gun and whatever that Rose had just whispered in his ear. His eye's suddenly widening and a quick nod in her direction with a bit of a stupid grin on his face that was hard to hide. He tried not to let Lucian's own reaction to what he was saying really mess with his mood. Sune would need to bring his A game to try and get what he wanted from Lucian without compromising himself. Maybe that couldn't be stopped in the end? But he would do his best.

When the small child started calling to the prince by name he smiled down at the baby, actually quite proud. The baby was quickly growing and learning new things by the day it seemed. As Rose slid off his lap to let him up he would have to be quick about how he was going to start this off. Standing he would turn towards Lucian and just grin a bit. "You act like you've already given up hope for peace with me, just because of who my pops is." He bit back the urge to start comparing him to his sister if he was going to start treating him like crap just because of who his dad was. There was no reason in the world besides past problems in their family that these two couldn't get along amazingly. Hell they could be friends if they just tried. Sune was willing to try if the other prince was as well. At least for the moment, at least while he needed something that they could give him.

He had chuckled at his mention of their fathers refusing to get along, and he simply shrugged at the reminder that his sister and Lucian's own cousin were a couple. When he mentioned actually being interested in what he wanted to talk about he would just smile lazily as he let his arms dangle at his side in a semi-relaxed pose. "I've done a lot of work for your father. I was wondering if maybe you would be willing to do some work for me." He grinned just a little bit. "I'd be willing to pay for your family's services, whatever the price is." He placed a hand over his heart as if he was beseeching a favor from the prince and showing his own commitment to this. "I just need to know, is what Angelo said true. Can you bring the dead back?"

Maybe he had given away something too early, but Sune was not known for his tact outside of the battle field. He was blunt, and direct and sometimes did too much wearing his heart on his sleeve when it was necessary. If Lucian needed to go and prepare for the night in his room, he would let the man leave, but if he wanted to begin talking here and now Sune would be prepared. Which route would be more prudent, giving him time to prepare or going with instincts? The ball was in Lucian's hands now.

Let's Get Down To Business - Page 2 Empty Re: Let's Get Down To Business

Post by Lucian Fri Apr 01, 2016 12:59 am

He looked all the more bemused at the little one that was known as Odine. She seemed excited by his very presence. Perhaps she tired of the constant mothering that no doubt she received from this large family of females who ran this ranch. Or perhaps she was just excited to make a new friend. Either way, he looked all the more amused by her rather loud exclamations. And especially at her pronunciation of his name. It was garbled and certainly no where near right but it was the thought that counted right? Was this what it was like for his grandmother to be so old and to see everyone as a toddler who still did not understand the fundamental aspects of life? To truly understand how things were? It amused him to no end to ponder. Perhaps he and his grandmother would need to have tea and talk about it.

This whole thing was amusing to the Prince. This lifestyle felt full of relief at every corner. As though the entire Empire did not weigh down on these people. They were fortunate enough not to have to worry about planet after constant planet of people depending on their rule. To get away, even if it was for a small business venture that would guarantee growth for his soon to be capital city, was a relief unlike any other.

His gaze shifted to the other Prince once more as he digested what the other said. And those eyes once more narrowed on the other man as he did not sneer this time. But he looked all the more annoyed. "And tell me, Prince Sune'ere," And maybe his tone couldn't be helped. "when I revealed who I was, in that moment, did you not immediately judge me for the sins of my own father?" And his right eyebrow raises at the man. Daring Sune'ere to pretend he did not immediately tense up at the idea of Arcerion and Kanatal's son being here on this very ranch. Near this particular family. Oh yes he was sure Sune'ere knew just how dangerous that his family could be. Some had honor. Others lacked it entirely. But they were a strong cohesive unit and they could stand against any threat.

"None the less, let's get to it then."

But now it was time to get down to business for them both. He wanted to hear what Sune'ere wanted. Lucian was tense all over. His own body rigid as opposed to the relaxed nature of the Dra'sin. No. Lucian did not trust this man one bit. He seemed too trusting, too willing to get people to like him, to be trusted at all. His eyebrows rose slightly at what Sune'ere mentioned. Work for his father? From Mesiphidon's own son? That sounded like a story worthy to be told. But the idea of doing work for a Dra'sin certainly felt like a deal breaker for Lucian. But as Sune'ere pushed on, Lucian found himself intrigued by what he knew was no doubt to be an unusual request. His head turned slightly to the right as he stared at this man, this rival Prince, who made a request unlike any other. Oh yes. Sune'ere had been too eager to get his point across. The mention of the revival of what should be dead certainly gave it away.

His smile was a wide one, almost from one side of his mouth to the other, as those sharp teeth could be seen. He looked more like a shark, a predator, than ever before now. Or perhaps, in Sune'ere's case, a devil that looked like it was ready to make a deal.

"Ahhhh. You seek to bring back which has passed on to.....another life." He moves around then across that room, seeking to pace, as he ponders just what it is that Sune'ere wants back. A human? A fellow Dra'sin? Or something else? Though the question might be better suited for a who. His head turns back and he looks at Sune'ere with those sharp eyes. Assessing the other with an interest like no other. This request might be beyond him but he could be certain to ensure it happened.

Before Lucian had time to properly respond, however, they were interrupted by the return of none other than the Matron herself. The smile faded and a look of uncertainty once more appeared on his face. "I would not wish to intrude on your family and.....friend." He indicated to the rival Prince once more. "You've already given me shelter to wait out this storm. Food would be asking for too much, Miss Sophonax."

Let's Get Down To Business - Page 2 Empty Re: Let's Get Down To Business

Rose held onto Odine and briefly rubbed her eye; the lid still stinging a bit from the close call with her child’s sharp little fingernail. She did find time to give Sune’ere a wink for his reaction to her whisper, however...even if it got mixed in with all of the involuntary blinking.

Odine clapped her little hands together; clearly validated by what she saw as her mother and a newer parental figure in her life who’d taken on the role as another caretaker giving her praise. Not quite “father” yet and the little one wasn’t yet sure how to differentiate anyone besides Rose as the hand that fed her. She was ‘Mother’, Sophonax, Gwenna, Lu, Whinnie-Sloane and now Sune’ere were sort of other mothers. It truly did take a village to reign in her endless energy.

Lucian’s faint but amused expression was noted after Rose’s eyes cut away from the baby. She had a feeling she was seeing something of a rare expression. Actual joviality, engagement. He’d demonstrated so far a sort of stuffiness blended with a sort of sharp edged malice that set her teeth on edge. She didn’t like the way he always seemed to want to find a way to dig into Sune’ere— be it his heritage, what he wanted, his dead friend.

“She likes you....y’ can tell, can’t you?” She’d say when there was a window for her to avoid interrupting the two men. Odine released a shrill giggle-shriek as if to confirm the words she very obviously didn’t understand; her short finger pointing at the pair. “Yes mama, there he is...that’s your prince!” She’d say; immediately turning from the men to tickle her daughter and smile widely at her. It was never clarified what she meant by the mark of ownership or which prince she’d been referring to.

Rose then watched the conversation halt; her mother coming around the kitchen island with her lazy and welcoming expression on. There was a look in her red eyes that inspired Rose to roll her own and shake her head. She already knew what was up.

“Ah, y’ ain’t askin’ nothin’ more’n what M’offerin’, Lucian. Y’ stayin’ in my house an’ the whole damn time y’ in here, ye get to count as family. Kennit? from Sophonax. A soft laugh followed her mother’s statement before the Matron opened the door to the basement and vanished into the depths. Likely, she was consulting the freezers for more fine cuts of meat and anything else needed to make a bigger meal now that they had a new guest.

'One biiiig happy family...hmm, Odine? Ain't it?' from Rose and she idly bounced the toddler on her knee; wide and near alien irises cutting to the men now and then. The tension between the two seemed palpable.

Let's Get Down To Business - Page 2 Empty Re: Let's Get Down To Business

Sune'ere stood resolute before Lucian's own questioning. If Lucian expected him to quake in his boots and back down from his questions and statements he would find his rival to be rather bullheaded and stubborn. The first shots of a sort were fired between them, calling him hypocritical without saying as much to his face. He crossed arms over his chest and nodded. He grinned and looked to Lucian though, he'd already begun putting words into action, as his posture once more relaxed as he lowered his defenses. He let his uncles teachings of feeling out the conversation flow through him. His words were picked naturally, and meant to find their exact mark.

"Your family has a reputation for being ruthless. I apologize for acting like a cornered beast when I first learned who you are. It was disrespectful of me. You and the majority of your family have never once even thought of harming me. In fact I would say you have all been rather more helpful to me than some of my own have been. Thank you." He was trying to show his own bit of humility for all the work that Kitsuko had done for him in the past. Healing wounds and the like for his coworkers. It wouldn't do him any good to ask favors of this family while insulting them at the same time.

He watched Lucian, watched him thinking everything over. The man was a hard read, and he was probably tipping his hand twenty minutes too early. He'd rather the Exercion see that what he was offering was all on the table, get the business man drooling at the bit to work with him. This was important, almost more than he could explain. He turned to Rose and Odine, smiling as she talked about the man before him being the little girls prince. It was adorable, it was innocent. It was everything that every rumor in Nexxian said that this person before him shouldn't be. Was it the mother or the father that was the bad seed? Did he carry out the same terrible habits as his parents? Would he be sleeping in the babies room looking over her to make sure Odine still breathed in the morning?

He'd have to trust like everyone else in this room did. Lucian couldn't afford to indulge himself like Jophiel or the boys father might. Business was being conducted, more than he had ever intended to do. "Yes, Edward Elric. The dead Alchemist. He lost his life in Nexxian, I want to bring him back. What is required, who do I need to speak to? Can your family do it or can't you?" Sune was becoming rather impatient, he certainly didn't like being given this run around. He wanted clear answers from Lucian. Clear prices if he could get them as well. He'd write up the damn contract in his own blood if that was what was needed if they could do it.

He looked back to Rose and Odine, giving them a grin of confidence. Either everything was going according to plan with Sune, or he had something up his sleeve. Most likely it was neither of these, Sune had never been good at personal confrontations, and he was more likely to blow his temper at Lucian then he was to play a trick on the Exercion before him.

Let's Get Down To Business - Page 2 Empty Re: Let's Get Down To Business

Post by Lucian Sun Apr 10, 2016 2:32 am

His mind raced with the prospect of bringing back such a simple soul and gaining a favor from the Celesin Prince. His mind raced with the possibilities of what he could even ask for. It felt so....simplistic. And not even fair at all in what Lucian would likely ask of this Prince. Oh no. This would certainly be an unfair arrangement. But this also showed that, while the Celesin Empire were powerful in their reach, that the Shuinsai Family still was above them in some respects.

"Yes we....do have that reputation. That I can't deny at all." He couldn't deny who his father was. He couldn't even deny who his mother also was and who his entire was. His grandmother Kitsuko, to his father and uncle, and now to the newest generation that included his cousin the Grand Duchess. And if his lip twitched ever so slightly at the admittance from Sune'ere concerning his family, well it was only for a second. It was nice and even endearing to hear the rival Prince speak of his family in such a respectable way. But there was also a sense of fear in the way that this Prince viewed his family. No doubt that the man had been worried that the Dorian Empire had taken such an interest in the Redpointe Ranch and its owner.  It certainly eased away the tension that was in the air. A tension that, if it gave way, would result in a cataclysm for this ranch.

His attention shifts back to the mother and her infant daughter. The look of suspicion giving way to something else. Something more genuine and.....human. Almost. There is certainly amusement in his stare as he just regards the pair. More importantly he looks at the little girl on the lap of her mother. "Yes I...." He heard that giggling shriek that the child produced and he couldn't help but chuckle in response. "I think I see that." Oh yes this little one was amusing. He couldn't help but wonder what it would be like to be a parent. To have a child of his own someday. Did his father have to hold him in such a way? Or perhaps it was his mother? But Kanatal had been away in isolation in her own Empire for some time now. Who knew the answer to these questions? He would need to inquire about this someday to his father.

Lucian once more shifts his gaze back to the rival Prince. The smile having faded to something else. Something uncertain and all the while it was curious. He was curious to see how this played out. And oh did he have an idea of what would be asked of him. His smile was sharp as it returned, his tongue lashing out for just a moment to lick his upper lip. The sheer stupidity of it all just amusing him more than anything.

Edward Elric. The former second in command of Angelo Zerephan's Detective Agency. Comrade and, most importantly, friend to the Prince of Celesin.

It was too good to be true.

He contemplated on how to respond to all of this. His eyes were no longer on the infant and her mother on that couch. Instead, Prince Sune'ere had his full attention once more. The Prince of Dorian had to process what was requested of him and come up with a proper response. Could he say no?

The Matron once more returned and Lucian would give pause as he watched her with that intense stare. The prospect of being counted as family the same as Sune'ere seemed to leave a bitter taste in his mouth as he thought on it. The smile on his face strained once again as his head nodded.

She was the Matron. It was her call to make after all. And it was her house and her right to treat who she wanted as family.

"As you wish."

And once again the Matron left the floor and left him alone with the....happy couple. He pauses as his eyes flicker from the couch to the man who was standing before him now demanding the return of a dead friend.

"There are several factors that come into play." He has to admit that first and foremost. If there is to be an arrangement then he needs to make sure that Sune understands that. "The body doesn't matter. A new one can be forged. Think of it like..." Lucian gives pause as he tries to explain the concept of a soul being different from a body. An intangible object to most but still attainable. And he has to come up with an easy analogy for the other Prince to grasp what he is saying. And, recalling the files on each member of the Detective Agency, he comes up with the answer all too quickly. "Imagine that the soul is the engine. A special engine. It can't be replicated. Each and every vehicle is special in their own way. Especially when it comes to that engine. The outer shell can be replaced. New tires and all that. But this engine is the one you want. The shell, the body, doesn't matter. It can be remade from scratch or repaired if found." It was the best he could hope to try and make Sune to be understand. "Getting that engine is what matters above all else. And if your friend has died, then it may be trickier to get that particular car engine. Especially if you don't have it in your possession." His brow furrows as he thinks on what he would need. Where would he go to handle this? "I will need to make inquiries and....perhaps speak to my grandmother. She took a particular interest in the Elric Brothers. I'm certain she will like to know the fate of your friend as well."

And that was the truth in all honesty.

Let's Get Down To Business - Page 2 Empty Re: Let's Get Down To Business

Rose glanced up to see Lucian almost come close to smiling again. He did have a disarming expression of positive engagement— and it was clearly rare. Even around the shark like teeth! And yet it never seemed to last long. Never more than a few seconds before he was back to reminding her of a cannibalistic lawyer or politician from the big city.

Odine quieted down her exciting screaming and was now for lack of a better word babbling. Very little of it made sense. All baby talk and nonsense until Rose somehow managed to inpret that the child was hungry. She had learned weeks ago to pantomime rubbing her belly although sometimes it was more like yanking her shirt or slapping her little gut. No run of the mill one and a half year old would have retained such instruction for communication enough to perform it. At this age they were supposed to simply start screaming and crying when they wanted food. But not Odine. She was special.

The mother let loose a low, purring chuckle at the child’s display and smiled wide while lifting the both of them off the couch. She stepped around the men; looking completely disengaged but listening to what they were saying. It was quite….analogous to her ancestry in a way. An engine, a chassis. Much like the flesh, mind and soul.

Pneuma, Soma, Sarx. That was the way some of the old folks down on the other continent in their shanty town described the triune of existence. For the Djinn it was the body, the Servitor, the Dwirgi. Rose, being only a Jann had only a Servitor. The remainder of her unseen power was inherited from a natural born sorceress named ‘Sparrow’. Her other biological mother.

Rose was considering the similarities between the mythology of various cultures, the Djinn and wondered how much the construction of powerful beings all had in common— how often did they come in threes? It was a powerful number to witches, after all.

Hand pounded papaya and avocado was taken from the refrigerator for Odine and a wooden baby seat was pulled up to the marble top island in the kitchen. Rose was soon seated at the island beside her child and feeding her with a pink kiddie-spoon. As impatient and short tempered as the Sentinel was known to be; not to mention being a bit of a drinker and lacking in manners, she was almost always eerily calm with her child. She never lost her head or seemed to be unable to handle her behavior and care. It surprised many a friend and family member.

“So you’re sayin’ if we get Ed’s Pneuma….his Servitor, he can be brought back?” Rose very suddenly cut in; not using the word for “soul” since the term she’d employed was more accurate in her eyes and generally a part of the Djinn born lexicon. “All revolves around the tether, the Servitor. Should do it on sacred ground...or th' world gets hungry. For blood or penance.” And what Lucian was saying made perfect sense to her. There would be no more cryptic words from Rose for a moment as she hadn’t yet looked away from her child even while speaking and fed Odine another spoonfull of the fruit mash.

Meanwhile, Sophonax reemerged from the basement and had an enormous turkey in her arms along with a canvas bag of potatoes and other sides. She paid the lot of them no mind at all took the lid off of a built in deep fryer teeming with hot oil next to the eight burner stove. A brief, boiling hiss before she put the lid on.

Let's Get Down To Business - Page 2 Empty Re: Let's Get Down To Business

Sune'ere was so focused on Lucian and his answer that he hadn't noticed Rose and Odine get up to leave. It seemed he wouldn't acquire his answer just this moment. Then again he shouldn't of expected it to be so quick, after all Lucian was a Prince just like him. He may be on just the same power level as Sune'ere. Strong in his own right, but not at the level of someone like his parents. The fact that it seemed possible certainly made him breath a sigh of relief. When Rose spoke from the kitchen he looked around maybe just a little confused for a moment. He'd been in his own mind too long.

"I'm sure they have their ways. I know the old reports said his grand mother did this once. I'm sure they know what they're doing." He tried to smile towards Lucian, he had faith in what this mans family could do for him. He supposed that the price could be figured out at a later date. It seemed that Lucian would be staying for dinner as well. This could get interesting. He raised a hand to Lucian, and smiled. "I'm going to get a drink, do you want one?" He grinned just a bit, seeming to relax and if Lucian did in fact ask for one Sune would sneak his way into the kitchen, grab a growler of beer, and whatever Lucian had asked him to grab. On the way out he would of given Rose a quick kiss on the cheek before coming back to the place where him and the other prince had gathered. Once he had given him a drink if any, he would uncork his own drink and take a few deep gulps.

"It's rare for people like us to get together and not try to kill each other. I say we enjoy it. What do you say Prince Lucian, shall we drink to each others health before dinner?" He sat down and relaxed. If this was a trick for Prince Lucian it was a terrible one. The man was relaxing everything but his grip on his beer. He wasn't even trying to act defensive around the other prince. It was the best strategy he and his uncle had ever come up with in social situations like this. Instead of keeping each other on guard, just try and be friendly. No one ever expects you to be friendly with them.

"So how's the family doing? I haven't seen Jophiel or Kitsuko since before Nexxian."

Let's Get Down To Business - Page 2 Empty Re: Let's Get Down To Business

Lucian didn't know how to best get it across to the pair of lovers in the room but he had tried his best. The rival had seemed adept with vehicles. The file on him had suggested that there had a "truck" that the rival had worked on. An analogy on the truck having an engine and using that as a comparison to the soul might serve to work. His head shook as he thought on what else he could use to explain. How to get them to understand just how tedious the process might be. It was a delicate matter that would require finesse like no other. His brow furrowed for a moment as he heard the mother of the child speak up from the kitchen. What was an Pneuma? Or a Servitor? He looked all the more confused by the wording. Though he certainly understood "sacred ground" and what that might mean.

"A proper container is all that is needed for the soul." He decides to correct the woman as he looks back at the rival. "If the soul is not contained in some fashion, it will simply go on to the great beyond. Sometimes it can be pulled back. Others, not so much. And considering the circumstances regarding where a person might be, the pull on that soul might be harder to break." The emergence of Sophonax certainly garnered his attention as he looked into the kitchen. Perhaps a second too long as he observed not only the Matron but the entire "family" as a whole as well. It was jarring just a bit for the Dorian Prince.

"Whatever you have is fine." He can't be picky. He can't demand for the finest wines or the hardest drinks. Lucian was a guest in the home of another. That demanded a certain respect. And considering this was soon to be the home of a future business partner, he couldn't show weakness or a snobbish attitude. It was evident the Matron and her family had encountered bad "city folk" in these parts. He needed to relax just a tad and allow himself to be on even standing with the Matron. Lucian watches as the Celesin Prince moves in to that kitchen, a kiss on the cheek given to the mother of the child, and then alcoholic beverages were grabbed. Whatever Sune'ere chose would be more than fine for him. Lucian had already consumed lemonade earlier. What could another drink hurt?

The drink was given to him and, ever so awkwardly, Lucian would uncork his own drink and start to consume it as well. A sip at first before the entire drink would start to be consumed. He had to admit, that Sune'ere acting as casual as a cat was worrisome. It made Lucian think that the other somehow felt like he had an edge over Lucian.

That couldn't be tolerated if that was the case.

"Yes I suppose so. There is nothing wrong with that in the slightest." He sips again at his beer, enjoying the alcoholic warmth that once again was starting to fill him. The Prince moves across that room, away from that seat the the rival had found, and would eventually make his way to a wall to lean against. Perhaps it made him look more brooding or withdrawn but it mattered little to the Dorian Prince. He sipped at that beer, content with having a vantage point of view over the gathered group in the household, while he just observed.

"Grandmother...." And he doesn't want to get the other's hopes up. But then again, the odds were definitely in their favor. His grandmother was an artist. And this was one of her many different skill sets. Soul saving. Or consuming. But he didn't dare let them know that. "She is well. Since the destruction of the Agency and her lack of employment, she has been content with staying within her own domain. My cousin Jophiel has been there as well. Visiting." After the destruction of Nexxian, his cousin had likely required any and all kinds of comfort and guidance in these trying times. And their grandmother was wiser than any other.

Let's Get Down To Business - Page 2 Empty Re: Let's Get Down To Business

Rose was getting frustrated for Sune’ere. She wanted him to have his friend back if possible, see a smile on his face. And last she’d met the guy he’d seemed like every bit a stand up dude. But Lucian was proving to be a hard nut to crack. It took every fiber of will in her body not to stand up and supplant Sune as the one making the request and negotiating and be her usual ‘charming’ self enough to break the other prince out of stonewalling and beating around the bush.

However, that would just result in him saying ‘no’ and going on about his day without any skin taken from his back. It was a tough situation with the rival royals; families on either side of a metaphorical battlefield while they were face to face straining to smile past their biases. Rose sighed; listening to the exchange while platinum eyes cut between the men and her daughter who was currently smearing her dinner all over her face like warpaint.

Sophonax? She didn't seem to care. She was engaged with deep frying the bird, hand mashing potatoes, baking something with pasta and cheese and doing her usual domestic witch craft without any concern for the happenings.

Odine had Rose’s attention for a long moment when Sune came into the kitchen and he’d find himself caught by the opening under his shirt collar with a surprisingly steely grip after he gave her a peck. Someone wasn’t happy with just that alone and gave him a feather light but perhaps a touch too intimate kiss. It wasn’t open mouthed or anything but would have been better behind closed doors. Was it to show off? Not quite. She mouthed something while pulling away in the faintest whisper.

“You ought to talk t’ the lady after this. Jophine or whatever..” she’d say; giving him a wink after pulling back. Rose figured that was another way to cover his bases, and, last she’d met the woman it was during the agency’s stay in these very lands. She’d been with the blond kid far as Rose knew had been nice on the surface. A politician might be easier than royalty?

And just as if by coincidence once Sune’ere circled back around she heard the actual name of the woman from Lucian himself. Rose made an expression at the correct pronunciation in a “Go figure” fashion and, now that Odine was fed and the sun was finished setting it was time for the baby to prepare to hit the hay. Thus, she’d rise with the child in tow— already crying. She was smart enough to know that darkness equaled the horrible downward spiral ending in a crib.

“Say byebye to th’ prince, Dinny” she drawled; wearing a lazy smile as Odine, who hadn’t finished crying— still managed to wave at Lucian even with tears in her eyes. But, before she left. “Jophiel. That’d th’ one datin’....” Rose leveled a hand high above her head to communicate an absurd height. “I remember her. She was nice. Stayed with us for a bit last year.” and with that she turned to make her way down the home’s right wing.

Let's Get Down To Business - Page 2 Empty Re: Let's Get Down To Business

Post by Sune Sat Apr 16, 2016 9:46 pm

Sune'ere listened to Lucian continue to describe the conceptual theory that was needed to bring his friend back. He understood it all, but he played the idiot and let Lucian explain it to him like he had never thought about the whole process before. As if the thought of spirits and souls and bodies were completely alien to him. They were actually fairly common, it was the power that was required for something like resurrection, TRUE resurrection that bothered him. "I have absolute faith in your family to provide what is needed. After all I am... a paying customer." He laughed a bit at this very idea and heard Lucians own request for whatever he was having. When he made his way into the kitchen he would grab two growlers of the redpointe lager and go about his business.

He'd gone in for a peck on the cheek of Rose and would find himself grabbed by the collar, with both hands full into an honest and passionate if small kiss. He smiled afterwards, feigning swooning in front of her with a grin as he stumbled forward. If he had a free hand he may of felt her up, but alas just pressing against her would have to do. He turned to the little girl being fed her dinner and would kiss her upon the forehead with her red curls and smile to her. "be good for your Ma Odine. I'm gonna go make friends with your prince." He smiled a bit and went to walk out of the kitchen. Before he left he would nod to Rose. "Good idea."Handing Lucian the growler of beer he had grabbed for him, he would turn to Rose as she went to put Odine to bed, blowing a kiss to her he would smile before turning back towards Lucian, and keeping his smile intact and in place when he talked to the rival prince.

Rival was the incorrect term. Sune'ere and Lucian were simply princes from separate empires. Not rivals, but in a weird way that even Sune'ere didn't really know about considering his step mothers relations to Lucian's aunt, they were more family than anyone would care to admit. As Rose and Odine left he would wave to the both of them, expecting Lucian might follow the same just for the sake of the child who had seemed so interested in him.

"Good, your grandmother was always a sweet heart to me when I had wounds that needed tending. And Jophiel was, always appreciative of our work, even if we sometimes failed to meet her expectations." He tried to smile at the mention of Jophiel, but the fact of the matter was he had enough experiences with her that his subordinates proved to make a bad impression of himself on her. Sometimes he doubted that the leader of Nexxian even cared that he was there. There was something interesting about what Lucian said concerning his cousin, and staying in the grand mothers domain. Didn't she have a city to help remake?

"That so? I figured she would be heading reconstruction projects. Then again she surely has more subordinates than me and Ed." He chuckled just a little darkly before grinning to Lucian. There were so many things that the Dorian Prince could of asked, and yet he kept himself quiet. He was curious, certainly on guard from what Sune may of been used to. "The files I have on your family hardly do you service. Everything I had said your family was the talkative type, and yet you keep your secrets well." he clapped against his growler of beer and took another swig.

"You should lighten up, we're on what us basically neutral griund, I'm asking you for a favor. You have me more bent over the couch than my records say your mother had the Primoris Ultonis bent over." And now he was bringing up old family history, like the fact that Lucian's mother used to command Fenris.

Let's Get Down To Business - Page 2 Empty Re: Let's Get Down To Business

Post by Lucian Mon Apr 18, 2016 8:22 pm

If it came down to the others trying to break his will through sheer blunt force trauma, Rose was going to be disappointed. Lucian may have seemed like he was giving the other Prince the run around, but in truth he was all for bringing back on measly human being. And with that done, he would gain a favor from the other. A life for a life perhaps? Unlikely since there was no one dead that Lucian cared to bring back. Still he would need to think long and hard on what he would have to ask of the Celesin Prince. The price would, more than likely, be a heavy one. And the other might just regret owing Lucian a favor. His head merely nodded as the rival spoke of having faith. Oh yes. The price would certainly be a heavy one.

The display of emotion, sexual attraction, and something else from the pair certainly had him...curious. His head shook at the audacity of it all and instead he returned his gaze away to the cook who was preparing their nice meal. A glance for only a moment before shifting his gaze to the room that he currently occupied. Anything but the display of affection between the couple. It was.....nauseating almost. Why was he being forced to endure all this? For the sake of being kind and complacent to facilitate a business arrangement between he and Sophonax? He didn't know how much more he could handle.

The growler had been accepted and was being consumed now as they sat there drinking. Two princes from two different empires. And they were talking. Being civil to one another for the sake of being civil. He said nothing of his cousin or grandmother. He had not been there to see his grandmother join Zerephan's Agency. And he had not seen much of his cousin's rule of the Nexxian Nation. He had no input to offer truly. He had barely met his grandmother some time before. "I'm sure you tried your best." It was kind of him to say so. But there was more to this. Perhaps the Agency was a disappointment to his cousin. He had never truly sat down and asked this of her before.

When what he mentioned about his cousin, however, was brought Lucian would frown immediately. He did not like the chuckle or the bitterness he felt behind it. No. He maintains his frown before raising his drink up to consume the alcohol once more. "How my cousin is handling her affairs is her business. I wouldn't have any input on it." He has to resist being annoyed at the idea of there being files on he and his people. Or that Sune'ere had any idea just who he was dealing with.

He had his drink raised once more, taking a nice good swig, when the other made their joke about a certain history between Empress Kanatal and.....a certain Primoris. There was an intake of breath and he brought the beer down quickly from those lips. Lucian coughed as he tried to regain control of his breathing. But it was there.

"Heh...hehehe...." The faintest of chuckles from the Dorian Prince. Maybe soft enough to even be a giggle. But that was before he laughed quite loudly. "Hahahahahaha!" And he leans back against that wall as an actual smile was on his face. The laugh itself would echo through the room, and possibly the household, and might even surprise the other Prince. Perhaps the shell had been broken through. Perhaps the idea that his mother once commanded one of Mesiphidon's chief advisors had finally caused him to relax. Or just the idea of Fenris of Olfwood bent over, serving his mother's endless whims, was the most hysterical idea for him.

"Forgive me. That was....a funny scenario to play out in my mind." And he straightens himself out once more, standing at his 6'4 height as he starts to finish off the beer in some delight. It was funny. He was almost starting to relax.
