Vann Reviam has challenged Deck for B Class rank 14.   The standard rules apply, five day post limit. The challenger has been summoned to the Amphitheater first. Once both participants have arrived combat begins immediately.

So Vann was here, and here for one reason alone. He had not committed himself to combat but had committed himself to practicality. These games were a font of fame and possibly fortune, and he needed the latter, but the former was always nice.

Clad in his stitched up hooded sweater, he wielded naught but a simple blade sheathed at his right hip as he waited for his opponent, gathering his intent just in case.

Deck had joined these games because he was poor. A good showing in the games would probably get him picked up by someone with money. If they could just see the kind of power that a squad mage of his caliber could bring.

The man stood at 6'4'', a broad and muscular build of someone who had spent a decade in the military. Tan skin and jet black short hair and a short beard clashed with the vibrant green eyes. He was clothed in a mismatched attire of armor, chain mail shirt beneath a heavy leather coat that had pieces of battle worn metal armor fused into it along the shoulders, and bicep. Upon his back was a two handed sword made for a person of his size, forged of genebacken steel. Hanging at his side was a crossbow already loaded with a quarrel, and his personal treasure a hand axe said to originally come from the cult of Fener. Heavy boots crunched the sand beneath his feet as he finished smoking, and would spit his hand rolled cigarette out and crush it beneath his boot.

He took the size of his opponent in, looking at his weaponry and trying to gather just what this one might be capable of. Unsheathing his sword across his back, he would hold it lightly in both hands, with the weapon held outwards and the blade nearly touching the ground at an angle. "C'mon friend, lets give those who want blood shed something to look forward too."

Vann was significantly shorter than Deck, but not exactly short in objective terms. Standing at 5'10 with a slim but toned build. The male seemed well armed, with his armor and high quality weapons. Perhaps Vann would have his work cut out for him here. The Vaelite nodded at the mans words as his Valor was brought to bear, affecting the aura his body produced as he unsheathed and brought his sword held in his left hand across in a sudden motion, transferring Power into the blades form, and into its path, affecting the area it traversed.

Kinetic force spiraled from the source of the arc towards Deck, a shimmering horizontal vortex of red and blue. If it struck it had the potential to rend and lacerate, capable of devastating a standard house.  The spread of the force would expand afterwards towards the barrier that kept such matches under control and quarantined the potential destruction. Vann stepped forward during the motion, and afterwards stepped forward again as his blade was weaved around his body in a seamless flourish that followed the first attack.

Deck had been a gifted squad mage, and as was usual for people from his realm, the gift manifested a number of unique side effects. Chiefly among them was the fact that sudden fluctuations in reality, or what he would of called magic actually had a unique scent to them. As Vann gathered his power to be unleashed the man would not be taken aback by the sudden blast of magic that he was woefully unfamiliar with. The scent had given him just enough time to react. Unveiling the warren of D'riss the path of stone, he would channel the power from the elemental plane into his blade and move forward. Using himself and his blade like a conductor for the warren to act through, his mind was the forge which would temper the power from moving all out as warrens were want to do.

He raised his sword from the downwards position upwards with considerable strength, the warren that tempered him and his blade adding a considerable amount of durability to an already strong weapon. His blade met with the spinning slash meant to rend him on the spot, the magics colliding and his quick raise of his own blade would force the spinning horizontal air blade to be pushed upwards and above him. With the swords position now changed he adjusted his arms so that the blade ran parallel to the ground and the flat of the blade Decks own face, the tip pointed at Vann's face. Favoring his right hand side he would Take a cautionary step forward, and with but a thought close the warren of D'riss and open up Tennes.

Though still outside of immediate striking distance with Vann he would push his sword forward with a harsh thrust that launched a spear of fire directly from the elemental plane of fire. Power compacted enough to give it some form of rigidity, so that it couldn't simply be blown away, the spear was launched at the center of mass, aiming to pierce Vann through the stomach and immolate him. His blade held outwards, it was at a perfect angle to block any in coming attacks from in front of him, just a simple flick of his wrists to adjust positioning was all he would need.

His opponent had done as Vann had hoped, and as the spiraling horizontal vortex was dispersed, as it was sent up. Individual forces were separated and scattered along the area, as Vann sidestepped quickly off line of the fire-spear detecting it with his "reception" as the power suddenly flared to life to manifest. The movement was far and cleared a good amount of distance during.

As this happened the dispersing forces would bounce off the force-shielding that encompassed the arena, causing them to reconvene omni-directionally at Decks current vector as he initiated the thrust, resulting in sharpened kinetic forces closing in on at him from all sides, each one threatening to pierce through his body.

Vann continued his step to his right, but veered off to make a sudden bee-line afterwards bringing his blade back and rotating it loosely in his left hand, with his right free as he sought to close in.

Normally he tried to show as little emotion as possible in battle, it might give away his plans. As the spear missed it's mark, it continued it's slight incline downwards and would smash into the ground. Once there it would explode outwards in smaller but still dangerous globes of fire, with a jelly like consistency not unlike napalm. Setting fire to all that it touched, in about a ten foot radius of the initial impact.

As for the blades which were not only coming at him, but would of pierced him by time he thrust his sword, there was no time to switch to a more defensive warren, so instead he would have to rely on Tennes more intangible properties. For a moment kicking a door in his mind open, he would become a conduit for the warren of fire. His body taking on a more intangible state as it wavered in the air, the blades of air passing through his body and smashing into the ground around him. Closing the warrens gate, Vann would find that the blades had in fact done damage to him, though not as much as he had hoped. Bleeding from multiple wounds, the large soldier had been hurt though not ripped to shreds. Already his opponent was proving to be tougher than most he had ever faced, and certainly more resourceful.

As Vann started his bee-line towards Deck, the big man would turn to face him and once more call upon the warren of stone, thrusting his blade into the ground, and forcing a spike from directly behind Vann to jut upwards and take him through the spine. His blade once more in a downwards position that opened up the top portion of his body to attack.

The Amount of distance gained from the step buying time to escape the splash-effect, the roll and run maneuver allowing him to gain enough distance to avoid the blast. His "reception" having told him to make a "long-evasion" initially, even as it also detected the actual tangible imposition of power upon the ambient realm.

Flourishing his blade, Vann manifested a small portion of his aura, compressing and "hardening" it so as to resist the spike at his back, and stop it from penetrating, forcing him to lean forward from the force but using that to drive him further forward. It still bruised him, but significantly lessened the force.

He brought his blade down in a mimicking of his opponent and used the gathered momentum of his flourishing to focus the force through his weapon and into the ground conducting the kinetic force forward at Deck as he kept his body low.

Vann buried his own blade into the earth, conducting kinetic force through the earth itself, resulting in a geyser blast beneath the males feet that would pelt him with shrapnel and blast him with concussive force. Vann leaping into the air afterwards and raising his blade up with his off hand kept ready.

(OOC: Apparently there is no shield around the arena, so previous attack damage can be ret-conned by Deck.)
